Adult Information Class  

 

If you are interested in learning more about the Lutheran faith and becoming a member of our church, our Adult Information Class will be starting on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Church. If you are interested in signing up for these classes, please contact Kathy Gilmore in the church office.  Babysitting will be available upon request.

 

 

Parish Note

 

Beginning today, communicants will be ushered to the altar beginning with the wings instead of the center pews.  Please follow the ushers’ lead.  Thank you.

 

The next Voters’ Assembly will be Sunday, February 19th at 12:15 pm following the 11:00 am service. Board Reports are due, please submit ASAP. Thanks!

There will be a Social Ministry Board meeting on Monday, February 6 at 6:00 pm.

 

CULVER’S KICKBACK DAYS… The next Kickback Day will be Tuesday, February 7, at the Culvers in Tinley Park. Trinity will receive 10% of all receipts submitted on the 7th. Thanks for your support!!

 

American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Tinley and Orland is kicking off its 2012 event from 6:30-8 pm on February 9, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Tinley Park. Come see what Relay is about! For questions or more information, contact Beth Binotti.

 

Thank you for your overwhelming response to the Feed My Starving Children event on February 11.  At this time all spots are filled.  If anyone who has signed up finds they can no longer make it, please let Katrina Kloess know ASAP so someone from the waiting list can be added on.

 

TRINITY’S STUDENT COUNCIL will be sponsoring a dance on Saturday, February 25, beginning from 7 – 9 pm. The dance is open to all of members of Trinity Lutheran Church and School. Permission slips and fees from all in attendance will be necessary. Permission forms will be available soon and will be located on the youth table outside the Trinity Room.

 

Men's Conference - Attention all men of Trinity! You are invited to the Iron Sharpens Iron Men's Conference which will be held on Saturday, February 25th from 8:30am - 5:00pm at Orland Park Church in Orland Park. We attended this conference last year and had a wonderful experience. Please join us. Registration is $39 per person and includes lunch. Please pick-up a flyer in the hallway outside of the Trinity Room or at the Welcome Center. Deadline for registration is Feb 11th. Please see Bob Gordon to register or to get more info.

 

 

Senior Citizen Computer Classes

 

●NJHS members began teaming up with senior citizens from Trinity’s congregation for a four-week course in how to use the computer. You can still sign-up!!!

●Students will team up with a senior partner and teach them a different course each week such as how to use a word processor, how to surf the Internet and use e-mail, and how to navigate the basics of social networking.

●There is a sign-up sheet outside the Trinity Room for one or more of the courses. Please contact Laura Piel for more info.

 

 

Save the Date

 

Daddy-Daughter Dance All Trinity dads and daughters and friends are invited to join us at 6:30 on Saturday, March 3, for When I See You Smile ... An 80s Dance. Share a special evening together back in the time of acid-washed jeans, neon, mullets, and black sunglasses. There will be appetizers, treats, a photo booth, lots of radical 80s music, and more! Registration forms are available outside the Trinity Room and are due by February 17. If you have any questions, please contact Jayne VanderVelde or Gwendolyn Holmes. It's going to be totally tubular!

 

The SPRING RESALE will be held on April 21, from 8:00 - 1:00. Registration information will be available soon.  If you would like to volunteer on the resale committee, please email Kristen Rizzuto.

 

Saturday, May 12th is the American Brain Tumor Association 5K walk/run. Come join us or make a donation in memory of Pastor Jon Strand. Go to events@abta.org to join our team--Tumornators for Jon-- or to make a donation. Call Connie Strand if you have any questions.

 

Sisters in Christ Dinner - Gather your “sisters” together for a wonderful Girl’s Day Out on May 20th.  Our guest speaker for the day will be the fabulous Jan Struck. Enjoy a buffet dinner, shop vendors, and a chance for prizes.  For more information, contact Judy Green.

Small Groups

 

Our Winter Session of Small Groups has begun! We have 36 groups with 423 total people participating in groups. Thank you for your dedication to our Small Group Ministry. We pray that your group will be a blessing in your life during this session and in 2012.

 

Our Christian Writing Group will begin a new session on Monday, Feb 6th at 7:00pm in the Old Chapel. Anyone interested in expressing their faith through writing is encouraged to try this group. No experience necessary. Options include writing devotions, prayers, poems, short stories, Bible studies, articles, and other works.

 

Working women of Trinity, the Second Sunday Business Women’s Group has been formed just for you. As career women, we know that you face special challenges both professionally and personally. This is where the Second Sunday Business Women’s Group comes in. Our group meetings will provide you with fellowship, encouragement, and thought provoking discussions that can be applied to your everyday life. Please join us for our next meeting on Sunday, February 12, from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm at the Panera Bread restaurant located at 15845 Harlem Avenue, Orland Park. "Bible 101" led by Bob Gordon meets in the Conference Room. This group is designed for anyone who is new to reading the Bible. New group members are always welcome.
