Alaska 2005

The weather's been beautiful so far, along with the low 70's temps (about 5-7 degrees higher than they were expecting at this time)...God DOES provide!

Our group has arrived! We can truly appreciate what a great Creator our God is when you see the varied beauty of His creation. Especially at this time of year, the daylight hours dominate almost the entire 24 hours. Notice the sun's presence upon our group's arrival at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Chugiak at about 11:00pm! Our Redeemer is next door to the home of Pastor Ken and Sandi Schauer, our coordinators from the Alaska Mission for Christ.

Our first breakfast in Alaska was a return to Soupy's Cafe in Eagle River. That same day we finally arrived at our home (or at least that's what we call it for now!) in Sterling, next door to the church and public school where we're hosting Vacation Bible School and Baseball & Soccer Sports Camps.

Friday, we reached the end of the Alaska State Highway 1 which ends in Homer. Our group looks pretty good for the high-altitude drive we took overlooking "The Spit" land strip in Homer.

Our next update will be sent on Monday, July 11, which is our first day of the VBS, the Baseball Camp & our hammer-and-nail work project. You can email us at missions@trinityluth.net if you'd like to share some words or contact anyone in our group!!
