What are Small Groups?

Trinity Lutheran Church of Tinley Park is excited to feature our strong support of the small group worship concept. We feel that the real learning and growing toward Jesus is best done in comfortable small groups. Our model for this is Jesus himself who started his ministry with the first twelve disciples.

Small groups, some call them "cell groups", "support groups", Sunday school (for adults), or simply Bible study groups are as they are defined, a gathering of 4 or more who share a common desire to know more about Jesus, the Bible, and what our part in Life we are to play. We discover our role in life through our relationship with others. This is a fun, exciting, and sharing time; in no way tedious.

Life is meant to be shared. The Bible calls shared experience fellowship. The small group provides the structure for this fellowship in a friendly, non threatening way.

The plan and hope is for a group to become strong, grow and then some day, split into several small groups, only to begin growing again! A small gathering of believers to grow and spread the Word....how exciting! Most groups will be less than 10 or 12 persons, and usually less.

Your group can meet anytime and anyplace agreeable. Limited church facilities will be available for meeting, before or after church. While others will prefer to meet weekday evenings at someone's home. Here refreshments most certainly will be anticipated as well as lively discussion periods.

We know that after the current study program is over, many of the groups will wish to continue. Some groups will disband and reform with other members. The church is ready to help assist in that process. Contact the church office or Bob Gordon for information on small groups.

Try it ....you will be amazed and thankful!
